The Australian press, which hitherto almost without exception had been opposed to the appointment of Sir Isaac Isaacs as governor-general because they regarded it as severing the link with Great Britain, today offers guarded comment on Sir Isaacs’ appointment. The papers generally agree however, that if any native Australian were to be appointed, Sir Isaac is the most suitable and the best qualified.
