Yiddish Theatres Reopen As Managers and Unions Settle

Eight Yiddish theatres in Greater New York opened last night after being closed for two weeks owing to differences between theatrical managers and labor unions over wage scales. Last night benefit performances, which will be repeated tonight, were given in these theatres, which will open their regular performances tomorrow night, Christmas eve. One of the nine theatres which closed two weeks ago will not as yet re-open.

The theatres which have reopened and their attractions are: Maurice Schwartz’s Yiddish Art Theatre, “Uncle Moses”; Public Theatre, “Eretz Yisrael,” starring Boris Thomashefsky; Molly Picon Theatre, “The Girl of Yesterday; the Downtown National Theatre, “Russian Love,” starring Aaron Lebedeff; Prospect Theatre, “I Want a Child,” starring Michael Michalesko; the Rolland Theatre, Brooklyn, “I Want a Child”; the Brooklyn Lyric Theatre, “The Jolly Bridegroom”; and the Odeon Theatre, “A Wife Like My Mother.”
