400,000 Aliens Resident Illegally in United States of America and 100,000 Are Deportable Under Immig

There are 400,000 aliens living in the United States without legal right to do so, and 100,000 of them are deportable under the immigration law, Mr. Doak, the new Secretary of Labour and Immigration, declared in reply to questions put to him in the Senate as to what suggestions he might make for changes in the Immigration Law to facilitate the deportation of undesirable aliens.

The Immigration Committee of the House of Representatives has appointed a Sub-Committee to work out a new Bill in place of the Johnson immigration restriction bill, to conform with the proposal made by Mr. Stimson, the Secretary of State, to admit only one-tenth of the present immigration quota into the country, maintaining at the same time the recently introduced national origins principle.
