The Problem of the Jewish Student: Conference of International Student Service Opened in Switzerland

The Second Conference on the Jewish question called by the International Student Service was opened to-day at Nyon, near Geneva, under the chairmanship of Professor Pierre Bovet, of Geneva, many Jewish and non-Jewish delegates from Germany, Austria, Roumania, Poland, England, France, and other countries being present. “The role of the Jews in the life of the peoples”, and “the historical causes of the present situation of the Jewish student” are among the questions to be dealt with, and the speakers will include Professor Smolensky of Warsaw, Ministerial Director Dr. Hermann Badt, Dr. Nahum Goldmann, and Dr. Friedrich Brodnitz, of the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith and the son of its President, Dr. Julius Brodnitz. Mr. James W. Parkes, author of “The Jew and His Neighbour”, who has visited most of the European countries on behalf of the International Student Service to study the position of the Jewish students, will make a general report on the situation of the Jewish students.
