London (May. 6)
The circulation of the Scriptures in the last year surpassed all previous records, except those for 1929, says the report of the British and Foreign Bible Society presented to its 127th. annual meeting held today. Only once has the number of new translations been exceeded, and in a period of world-wide financial strain the society has but a nominal adverse balance. The total expenditure was £406,365. During the year the society issued 1,029,741 Bibles, 1,073,185 Testaments, and 9,785,300 portions – a total of 11,888,226. Russia still keeps its doors barred against the entrance of the Bible, the report adds.
