As it happens, the decisions of the Wailing Wall Commission are mostly in favour of the Moslem contentions, the “Manchester Guardian” writes in an editorial article today. It is recognised, it says, that the Wailing Wall belongs to them; and the only restrictions put upon them provide that they shall not interfere with the Jews’ devotions. It is hardly an encouraging situation, it proceeds. The Moslems have anticipated the Commission’s report by a refusal to acknowledge it as valid. The Jews are no more likely to be content with restrictions on their habitual practices now than before. The only solution for the Mandatory Power appears to be to enforce the findings of a totally impartial body.
