In Palestine the trade depression continued throughout 1930 and general conditions were unsatisfactory, General Sir Herbert Lawrence said in presiding to-day at the annual general meeting of the Ottoman Bank held here.

The construction of Haifa Harbour progresses steadily, he went on, however, and a desert railway survey was taken in hand last November. He also reported on the signing of the conventions between the Iraq Petroleum Company for the consturction of a pipeline from Iraq to Haifa and the Palestine and Transjordan Governments.
