2 Jews May Oppose Each Other for President of Manhattan

Download PDF for this date

In the coming municipal elections the Republican and Democratic candidates for president of the borough of Manhattan may both be Jews if present plans in political circles are carried out. Samuel Levy, the incumbent, has already been renominated by the Democrats and the Republicans are seriously considering naming former Judge Gustave Hartman as his opponent. The Republican candidate will be picked next week and Republican leaders are understood to be supporting Mr. Hartman who, when he ran for the supreme court two years ago, was defeated although he ran 110,00 votes ahead of his ticket.
