The Lodzer Tageblatt, oldest Yiddish daily in Poland outside of Warsaw, has suspended publication.
A few weeks ago Emanuel Hamburski, the editor of the Lodzer Tageblatt, died. Since then all efforts to continue publishing the paper have failed. Mr. Hamburski was a wealthy merchant, president of the Lodz Merchants’ Union, an active Zionist worker and founder of and collaborator in many cultural institutions.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
