The elections to the City Council of Tel Aviv, which were to have taken place on Tuesday, have been postponed by order of the Palestine High Court, on the application of three labourers living in Tel Aviv, who claim that they have paid certain taxes to the Tel Aviv municipality but have no vote.
The hearing of the petitions has been fixed for the day on which the elections would otherwise have taken place.
The labourers who are represented by Mr. Horowitz and Mr. Smoira, are bringing their action as a test case, to determine the validity of the existing electoral regulations, by which they as lodgers have no vote, although they are required to pay certain taxes.
