Many thousands of people took part in a big demonstration which was organised to-day by the Communists here in connection with the funeral of Morris Wintchevsky, the “father” of the Jewish Socialist movement and the founder of the Jewish Socialist press and literature, ignoring the desire expressed by the family that the funeral should be private, and that there should be no public demonstrations in connection with it.

The Socialist friends of the family, and the Communists taking part in the demonstration actually came to blows. Kalman Zevi Marmor, the well-known Yiddish journalist (he was at one time a London resident, an active Poale Zionist, and writing in the London Yiddish Press), and other Communist leaders sustained injuries.
