Selby C. Oppenheimer, veteran concert master and impressario, has been appointed temporary managing director of the new War Memorial Opera House in the Civic Center, which will have its formal opening with a grand opera season next October.
The War Memorial Opera House which Mr. Oppenheimer now will direct represents an expenditure of more than a million dollars by the city. It has been under construction for the last 18 months.
