A secret session of the Political Commission appointed by the Actions Committee to study the report of Lewis French, Palestine Land Commissioner, and make its recommendations, was held here last night.

Lord Melchett, son of the former Sir Alfred Mond, to whose title he succeeded upon the former’s demise, participated in the discussion.

Lord Melchett related his personal impressions of the High Commissioner, Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, gained in the course of several meetings with him. Lord Melchett agreed with what seems to be the consensus of opinion among members of the Actions Committee, that the French Report is most unsatisfactory. He stressed the necessity, however, it is learned, of not identifying the report with official policy either on the part of the British or Palestine governments.

Lord Melchett also stated his conviction that relations between the Arabs and the Jews are certain to improve.

Actions Committee on the subject of preparatory training for prospective settlers in Palestine.

Leading in the debate were the members of the Labor parties, the Mizrachi and other groups who favored a middle class immigration and that of non-Chalutzim elements.

The Mizrachi representatives complained that non-Chalutzim are not receiving a proportionate share of the immigration certificates.

Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, member of the World Zionist Executive in Jerusalem, in charge of political affairs, returned to the interpellation on the new immigration ordinance of the Palestine government.

Dr. Arlosoroff stressed that no new practices are introduced in the present ordinance and that he had taken up with the Palestine government several points which required modification in order to meet with the approval of the Jews.
