The last rites were pronounced here today for Benjamin Bierfeld, prominent retired Jewish merchant who started business here during the Civil War period.

Mr. Bierfeld, who was 93 years old, was interred in Waldheim.

He was a native of Germany and received his education in Toronto, Canada. He served as a stockholder of the World’s Fair of 1893. Two sons and two daughters survive.
