Baltimore (Sep. 15)
With a massmeeting in the ballroom of the Lord Baltimore Hotel, the five-day convention of the Poale Zionâ€”Zeire Zion, the United Jewish Socialist Labor Party, opened last night.
The delegates, guests and general public, numbering more than 1,000, were greeted by Dr. Herman Seidel, the local chairman, who presided at the first convention of the Poale Zion here in 1905. The present gathering is the first since the merger of the activities of the two organizations.
Speakers last night included Mrs. Irma Lindheim, former president of the Hadassah Medical Organization; Baruch Zuckerman, a member of the executive committee of the labor party ; A. J. Biemiller, field campaign director in the Middle Atlantic States for the Socialist party ; Chaim Greenberg, Yiddish publicist ; Israel Mereminsky, secretary of the Palestine Labor Federation, and Golda Myerson, representative of the Palestine women’s organization.
The delegates, numbering about 100, come from approximately 45 cities in the United States. Three of the delegates arrived here from Winnipeg, Canada.
