News Brief

High Holyday services in the Austrian capital were punctuated with rifle shots throughout the first day of the Jewish New Year as Nazis and Socialists engaged in combat resulting in numerous injuries.

An aged Jewish individual, passing the Nazi headquarters was chased by the Nazis. He succeeded in escaping, however, without sustaining any injury.

The police surrounded the Nazi “Brown House” and searched for arms.

The police department considered issuing a prohibition order barring both Socialist and Nazi meetings but this was dispensed with when leaders of both groups undertook to maintain peace.
