Fifty-seven Jewish communities of Old Roumania, five of Bukovina, three of Bessarabia, two of Transylvania, are participating in the Congress convened by the Union of Jewish Communities of Old Roumania.

Communities in the new provinces, and unions of Orthodox and Spanish Jewish Communities are abstaining from participation.

Dr. William Filderman, president of the sponsoring body, delivered a lengthy address yesterday in which he called for an amendment to the present law abolishing the unity of the communities and enabling the formation of separatist groups.

Present at the sessions yesterday were Stancu Bradisteanu, representing the Minister of Worship and the Vice-Mayor of Bucharest, Anghelscu.
