Governor Gifford Pinchot has accepted the Honorary Chairmanship of the Pennsylvania Committee on the George Washington Forest, commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of the first President, now being established by the Jewish National Fund, according to an announcement made by Jacob B. Hoffman, local Zionist who will head the State Commitee.
Governor Pinchot is recognized as one of the outstanding foresters in this country, having been Chief United States Forester in the McKinley, Roosevelt and Taft administrations. To this day he not lessened his interest in forestry.
In accepting the Honorary Chairmanship of the Pennsylvania Committee, Governor Pinchot explained that as a forester he believes in the program of the afforestation of Palestine.
