A call for a conference of Brooklyn rabbis, presidents and representatives of Brooklyn congregations, has been issued by Dr. Israel H. Levinthal, of the Brooklyn Jewish Center, Rabbi Israel Goldfarb, of Beth Israel Anshe Emeth, and Rabbi Joseph Miller, of Congregation Shaare Torah of Flatbush. The conference will take place at the Brooklyn Jewish Center on Tuesday evening, January 10th, and will have for its purpose the organization of Brooklyn congregations for united activity in dealing with some of the more difficult problems facing Jewish religious life in the Borough.
The conference is in line with the efforts of the United Synagogue of America to stimulate religious life in various regions by bringing together the congregations in the region and forming a Branch of the United Synagogue, which will engage in furthering Jewish educational and religious activities and effect an interchange of ideas. The aim of the Branch activity is to present a united front on matters requiring such action.
It is expected that among the results of the conference will be an increase in registration in religious schools, an increase in the membership of congregations and more intensive cooperation between congregational schools. A further result of the conference is expected to be the improvement and stabilization of religious school work and adult educational activities.
The conference will open with a dinner at the Brooklyn Jewish Center.
