American experts, who have come to Hamath-Geder, near Zemach, for the purpose of analyzing the water there, report that their chemical analysis has proved that the wells in Hamath possess radium elements. The experts are continuing their investigation.

Apart from this, considerable interest has also been evoked by a statement made in the British Parliament a few days ago to the effect that the Government would be prepared to take a practical interest, for naval purposes, in any petroleum resources which Palestine may be proved to possess. It is regarded as a sign that some practical progress has been made by the investigators who have been searching for petroleum pools in Southern Palestine. According to S. G. Blake, Geological Adviser to the Palestine Government, petroleum companies have expressed the opinion that oil pools may exist within that area. He adds that exploration of the area is now being made to determine whether the surface flows indicate the existence of petroleum in commercial quantities.
