The part the Jews of Pennsylvania are to take in the planting of the George Washington Forest in Palestine, commemorating the bicentennial of the birth of our first President, will be decided at a State Conference to take place at the Penn-Harris Hotel here, on Monday evening, January 9th.
Governor Gifford Pinchot, Honorary Chairman of the Pennsylvania Committee will attend. Jacob B. Hoffman, Secretary of the Philadelphia Branch, Zionist Organization of America, and a member of the State Banking Department of the State Committee, with Adolph Edlis, veteran Zionist of Pittsburgh, Treasurer.
Nelson Ruttenberg, Deputy Police Commissioner of New York City and the American President of the Jewish National Fund, will attend this Conference and report on the progress made thus far. Spokesmen on behalf of the various Jewish communities throughout the State will greet the Conference and tell of the part these communities are to take in the furtherance of this enterprise.
Rabbi Philip D. Bookstaber, one of the Vice-Chairmen of the State Committee will welcome the Conference on behalf of the Jewish community of Harrisburg.
Hon. Arnold M. Blumberg, member of the State House of Representatives, has extended an invitation to all the Jewish members of the Legislature to be his guests at this conference. A buffet supper will be served.
