The police released yesterday two students, members of the Iron Guard, and the principal instigators of the attack upon guests at a Jewish charity ball in Jassy on December 18th, in which forty were injured, fifteen seriously.
The students were among a group of eight anti-Semites taken into custody on December 23rd. The release of the two was effected after they had been turned over for interrogation by the public prosecutor.
At the same time, the police held a youthful artisan and a cloakroom attendant. This action is interpreted as demonstrating undue lenience on the part of the police department toward the students.
It is pointed out that it has been established that students actually started the quarrel with the Jews which led to the attack and that the same students assembled a mob of hooligans who carried out the attack on the Jews.
