Two new Jewish appointments were made by the Democratic administration which just assumed office in Michigan. Governor William Comstock announced the appointment of Samuel Metzger, leading authority in the state on farming problems, as commissioner of agriculture.
At the same time, Maxwell L. Black, who was appointed assistant attorney general and state public administrator, appointed Samuel Sternberg, former president of Pisgah Lodge of B’nai B’rith, as public administrator for Wayne County.
Other Jewish appointments besides those of Metzger, Black and Sternberg, were those of Edward Frensdorf as head of the state prison commission and Byron Geller as assistant attorney general.
