Statistical studies just completed by the Department of Information and Statistics of the Jewish Education Association of New York disclose the fact that in the years 1931-32 there occurred a drop of approximately 10 per cent in the number of Jewish children receiving Jewish education. The results of these studies, as announced by Bernard Semel, honorary secretary of the Association, place the number of children in Greater New York now receiving Jewish instruction at 90,000, while in the years prior to 1931 the number of such children was estimated at 100,000.
“The need for educational propaganda among Jewish parents and for scholarships is now greater than ever,” he said.
