Friends of University Will Honor Untermyer at Luncheon April 13

A luncheon in honor of Samuel Untermyer, coinciding with the dedication of the Minnie Untermyer Open Air Theatre, gift of Mr. Untermyer to the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, will be given on Thursday, April 13th, at the Lawyers Club, 115 Broadway, by the American Friends of the Hebrew University, according to an announcement by Dr. A. S. W. Rosenbach, President. The theatre, a memorial to the late Mrs. Minnie Untermyer, will be dedicated in the presence of thousands in Palestine for the Easter and Passover holidays.

Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope, High Commissioner, will preside at the dedication exercises in Jerusalem, according to cabled advice received yesterday, (Saturday, April 8) from the Hebrew University by Dr. Rosenbach. Field-Marshal Viscount Allenby, former Commander-in-Chief of the British forces in Palestine during the World War, who presided at the laying of the cornerstone of the Hebrew University on April 1st, 1925, is also expected to be present.

A choir of 135 voices, accompanied by an orchestra, which will sing Handel’s oratorio, “Judas Maccabeus”, will take part in the ceremonies which will include a dedicatory speech by Dr. Judah L. Magnes, Chancellor of the University.

The Minnie Untermyer Memorial Open Air Theatre stands on the spot where the Hebrew University was opened on April 1st, 1925 by the late Earl of Balfour. The Eighth Anniversary of the Hebrew University will be celebrated throughout the entire month by special meetings in this country and abroad, Dr. Rosenbach announced.
