Social workers from practically every state in the Union and from cities in Canada are here to attend the convention of the National Conference of Jewish Social Service which opens tomorrow and will continue through Monday. Participating in the joint session of the conference, and meeting at sessions of their own, are the National Association of Jewish Center Executives and the National Council for Jewish Education.
The members of the League of Jewish Women’s Organizations of Detroit will act as hostesses at the reception following the opening session of the Conference on Thursday evening. Conference headquarters in Detroit are at Hotel Webster Hall, and all sessions will be held at Temple Beth El.
Mayor Frank Couzens will deliver the addrss of welcome in behalf of the general community at the joint session Thursday evening, with Henry Wineman, chairman of the board of governors of the Jewish Welfare Federation, presiding. Mr. Wineman will extend the Jewish community’s welcome to the visiting social workers. Dr. I. M. Rubinow of Cincinnati, the conference head, and national secretary of the B’nai B’rith, will address the workers on “The Credo of a Jewish Social Worker.” The invocation will be offered by Dr. Leo M. Franklin, and Rabbi Leon Fram will pronounce the benediction.
