Dr. Heinrich Rosmarin, vice-president of the Club of Polish Jewish Deputies, yesterday appealed to the Minister of Justice to give consideration to the appointment of Jews to the bench as magistrates and judges.
In the past Jews have been ignored in the matter of these appointments, said Dr. Rosmarin.
The discrimination against the appointment of Jews as magistrates was referred to by Dr. Josiah Thon, president of the Club of Jewish Deputies in his interpellation at the opening of the Sejm session, in the course of which he described the disabilities which Jews suffer in Poland.
Jews, Dr. Thon charged, are virtually excluded from government service, and in this connection he referred to the fact that while there had been a general reduction of about 10% in the number of judges, as many as sixty or seventy percent of the Jewish judicial officials had been dismissed.
