Duluth, Minn. (Jun. 17)
Rabbi Judah Kopstein, who has been rabbi of the Tifereth Israel Orthodox synagogue in Duluth for the last ten years and who resigned recently to take a ten-months’ trip to Palestine with Mrs. Kopstein, was guest of honor at a banquet in the synagogue at which more than three hundred people were present. A gift was presented to him as a token of appreciation.
Rabbi and Mrs. Judah Kopstein will sail from New York City on the Aquitania, July 5th, en route to Palestine, where they will visit Rabbi Kopstein’s brother, Rabbi Mordecai, after a separation of twenty-seven years.
A descendant of ten generations of rabbis, Rabbi Kopstein came to Duluth from Sioux City, Iowa, where he served for nine years. He had served as rabbi also in Connecticut and Ohio. He came to the United States from Vilna, Poland, where he was graduated from the Kovno Theological Seminary. He has written a book on Hebrew law.
