The political police yesterday carried out a raid on the Berlin headquarters of the Union of East European Jews. Another raid was made on the premises occupied by the Central Union of Eastern European Jews.
Following the series of arrests of Jews throughout the country last week by Nazi storm troopers and auxiliary police, the state commissar for Essen announced today that no one is authorized to make arrests without a police warrant. This applies to storm troopers and even to auxiliary police, he said, unless they are accompanied by members of the regular police force. Offenders will be subject to serious punishment, he warned.
