Denunciation of the Hitlerite persecution of Jews in Germany and determination to battle any anti-Semitic manifestations was sounded at the tenth annual international “homecoming” convention of Aleph Zadik Aleph (junior B’nai B’rith) concluded in Omaha.
Over four hundred delegates and visitors attended. The Supreme Advisory Council of the order also held its sessions simultaneously.
International officers elected were: Harold Miller, Hollywood, Cal., president; Bert Abramson, Washington, D. C., vice-president; Joe Solomonow, Council Bluffs, Ia., secretary; and Arthur Gottesman, Atlanta,, treasurer.
A feature of the convention was the formation of an A. Z. A. Alumni Association, the governing board of which is headed by Philip M. Klutznick, who retired as executive secretary of the order after serving in that capacity for seven years.
Klutznick is being succeeded by Julius Bisno of Memphis.
The principal address and the presentation of awards was made by Sam Beber of Omaha, president of the Supreme Advisory Board of A. Z. A.
The awards: “Best Chapter” award, Nathan Strauss chapter, Los Angeles; youth selected as the “exemplification” of A. Z. A. principles, Al Klein of Salt Lake; award for cooperation in national A. Z. A. work, Ben Z. Glass chapter, Milwaukee.
