A report has been received here from the Chicago Branch of the Women’s League of the United Synagogue announcing that they are now working on the organization of religious schools whose aim it is to give religious and Jewish education to girls and to combat Christian missionaries in the congested districts. They are making a special effort to organize these classes mainly among girls who have no other opportunity of receiving Jewish education.
On next Wednesday afternoon, Dr. Samuel A. Tannenbaum, Shakespearian scholar, will speak on “Shakespeare and Money.” The Women’s League of the United Synagogue is in charge of a radio program every Wednesday afternoon, over Station WINS from 3:45 to 4:00 o’clock.
So many requests for information regarding the immigration laws have been received by the National Council of Jewish Women in the past weeks that a brief summary of the laws, with special application to Germany, has been prepared and may be secured by writing to the National Council of Jewish Women, 625 Madison Ave., New York City.
The Yonkers Section of the National Council of Jewish Women has requested the Recreation Commission to take note of Peace Pact Day in connection with its August celebration. As a finale for the summer work, the Recreation Commission has agreed to produce a pageant furnished by the Yonkers Section, National Council of Jewish Women, in order to promote international good will and peace.
