and the Hadassah Rothschild Hospital which will become the nucleus of a clinic.
It is also proposed to add more laboratories, chairs of pathology, radiology, gynaecology, internal medicine, dermatology and surgery. This will enable the University to absorb a considerable number of Jewish scientists of outstanding merit and provide facilities for hundreds of students in Palestine and abroad.
In the Humanity faculties, where it is proposed to create a large number of additional chairs, the curriculum will be broadened so that the degree of master of arts may be granted.
The statement repeats last week’s announcement concerning the enlargement of the Institute of Jewish Studies and the unification of the existing departments of science into a comprehensive faculty of science, with new departments of physical chemistry, theoretical mathematical experimental physics, pure mathematics, physiology and pharmaceutics.
The appeal for funds was directed chiefly to Europe since the regular budget of the Hebrew University comes mainly from the United States. “It is no longer a question of vague schemes,” the appeal concludes, “it is today a problem of providing for a grave and very urgent matter.”
