The encouragement of the movement of Jews into productive occupations is the aim with which a new organization has just been founded in Jugoslavia. The “Central Association for Productive Jewish Relief Work”, with headquarters in Zagreb, sets out to lead Jewish relief work into more productive channels, by providing vocational training and thus keeping Jews out of the unproductive and blind-alley occupations into which they tend to drift. Particular attention is to be paid to the younger generation. Wherever necessary, the Association intends undertaking this work itself. It is a further aim of this newly-created body to organize and co-ordinate the activities of the various Jewish relief organizations in this country.

The Association has the full sympathy of the government, and its articles of incorporation have already been passed by the authorities. The main credit for the formation of this body, which should do some very useful work, is due to Dr. David Fuhrmann, the banker, who is devoting much time to it and has undertaken its provisional leadership.
