What New York’s Leading Rabbis Will Preach About Rosh Hashonah

With the setting of the sun next Wednesday, Jews throughout the world will greet the incoming year of 5694. The sadness of the past year is reflected in sermons to be preached by the Rabbis in New York City.

MANHATTAN

Congregation B’nai Jeshurun—Rabbi Israel Goldstein will preach on “A World in Travail” and “Poetry and Religion”.

Congregation Ohab Zedek—Rabbi William Margolis will preach on “What Price Idealism?” and “Adam Celebrates His Birthday”.

Congregation Rodeph Shalom—Rabbi Louis I. Newman will preach on “Watchman, What of the Night?” and “The Unlearned Lessons of Hitlerism”.

Free Synagogue—Rabbi Stephen S. Wise will preach on “Addicted to the Infinite”.

Mid-Town Synagogue—Rabbi Jacob Sonderling will preach in German on “Achievements of the German Jews in the Realm of Cluture”, “Jews Against Their Will” and “Germanism or Judaism — Which Will Win?”

Temple Ansche Chesed—Rabbi Joseph Zeitlin will preach on “Reneration in Religion” and “Echoes From the Shofar”.

Temple Emanu-El—Rabbi Samuel Schulman will preach on “The Dying Year’s Challenge to Israel”.

The Institutional Synagogue—Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein will preach on “The Call of the Shofar” and “Making the New Year New”. At the uptown synagogue Rabbi Z. Kapner will speak on “The Ringing of the Alarm” and Rabbi Philip Goodman on “The Call of the New Year”.

Park Avenue Synagogue—Rabbi Milton Steinberg will preach on “The Reality of the Unseen” and “The Fear of Life”.

Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue—Rabbi David de Sola Pool will preach on “The Answer to Germany” and “The Past and Future”.

Young People’s Synagogue of the Y.M.H.A.—Rabbi Henry M. Rosenthal will preach on “Brotherhood With Whom” and “The Spirit of the Youth in the Synagogue”.
