Expect Promulgation of Jewish Law Defining the Status of Reich Jews

Download PDF for this date

A special Jewish law which will serve as a constitution for the Jews of Germany, clarifying once for all, their status in the country, is expected soon, it was learned today. The German-Jewish leaders, it is understood, would welcome such a law because it will settle definitely the kind of citizenship for Jews and their legal position in Germany.

In this way numerous pending Jewish problems, including cultural, economic and citizenship rights, would be clarified and the position of the Jews made less vague than at present.

At the same time, orders were issued by the Nazi party to all its members, signed by Rudolf Hess, assistant to Hitler, to discontinue the open and silent boycott against the German department stores, some of the largest of which are owned by Jews. Otherwise, the police have been instructed to take action against the boycotters, the orders declare.

The orders make it clear that the Nazi program against department stores, one of the fundamental tenets of the Nazi party, remains unchanged, but present boycotting of the department stores would result in hundreds of thousands of additional unemployed, which is unpermittable now when the Nazi government is conducting a campaign for work and bread. On the other hand the orders prohibit members of the Nazi party from soliciting for department stores.
