Latvian Jews Barred from Gov’t and City Positions, Says Riga “frimorgen”

Jews are practically barred from government and municipal posts while constituencies of other nations, including Germany and Russia, are holding positions in the municipal tramways, water works and other city-owned operatives here, according to the Riga “Frimorgen”. The newspaper declares that among several thousand employees there are but six Jews.

There is no justification for this discrimination, continues the “Frimorgen”, which demands that equal opportunity be given Jewish intellectuals who have been hard hit by the economic crisis.
