Jerusalem (Nov. 1)
Elaborate plans for the establishment of a large poultry-raising settlement have been projected by Mr. Maniloff, an American Jew, to meet the large demand for poultry products.
It is estimated that the Jewish population consumes a hundred million eggs annually. Farmers are producing about one-tenth of the supply, the rest being obtained from foreign countries. Approximately £250,000 are expended on imported poultry products to this country.
The poultry settlement will be financed by loans floated for three years. Fruit and vegetable farms will supplement the chicken raising. A central marketing unit will distribute the products.
Mr. Maniloff will visit London shortly to obtain advice. Associated with him in the venture are David Trietsch, of Germany and Dr. Klumel, of Poland.
