The revocation of the naturalization papers of 10,000 East European Jews in Prussia alone was announced today by Ministerial Director Hering, who is in charge of the survey of acquired citizenship rights. Included in this number were a number of Prussian-born wives of East European Jews.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned that an effort is being made to have the German born wives excluded from the cancellation. Under the Prussian law, widows or divorcees automatically regain their Prussian nationality, which they lost when they married. It is hoped to have this law applied to the cases of German-born wives of East European Jews.
The campaign to deprive East European Jews of citizenship rights acquired after the war is being waged very energetically by the German authorities in the various states. Frequently cancellations of citizenship numbering thousands are announced by German authorities.
