Syracuse, N. Y. (Dec. 29)
Although the twelfth annual convention of the Mizrachi Hazoir, Orthodox Zionist Youth Organization, does not open officially until tomorrow evening most of the delegates and guests are already present to take part in Oneg Shabbas, which will be celebrated in typical Palestinian fashion with prayers, singing and a series of speeches in Hebrew.
The first session of the convention tomorrow evening in the Hotel Rochester will be devoted to a report of the president of the organization, Isidore Epstein of New York. The principal speaker of the evening will be Rabbi Wolf Gold, president of the Mizrachi Organization of the United States and Canada. He will discuss the problems of the international Mizrachi organization and the duties of the American section of the movement.
One of the most important problems to be studied by the convention is the fund-raising campaign to collect at least $200,000 for the Mizrachi Palestine Fund, which includes the youth Mizrachi fund, Keren Torah V’avodah.
Among the resolutions which the convention probably will adopt include the endorsement of the stand taken by the world Mizrachi leaders at the 18th Zionist Congress and of the work accomplished at the recent Rochester convention; condemnation of the British government for its stand on Jewish immigration in Palestine; endorsement of the boycott of German made goods; creation of an educational program for the junior youth groups and adoption of a practical program to prepare orthodox Zionist youth for pioneer work in Palestine.
