Editor, Jewish Daily Bulletin:

In the Januray 14th issue, The Bulletin prints a letter by Milton M. Alexander suggesting, quite timely, that the Jews establish some form of Memorial to commemorate the martyrdom o the recently assassinated Roumania’s Premier Duca. In the same issue appears the call by Lion Feuchtwanger to “Save the Children” of the German Jewish fegugees.

May I humbly suggest that the Bulletin inaugurate a “Deca Memorial Fund” for the adoption of German-Jewish children-in-exile.

It seems tome there are many American-Jewish families who would welcome such children into their own families. Those who could not themselves favorably adopt any such child could contribute in the form of cash contribution towards the transportation expenditures. It would relieve these distracted refugees’ parents from some of their greatest problems-the edication and care of their growing chldren -and would at least somewhat circumvent the immigration restriction nw existing. The argument against such a move, that of braking up families, would be more than outweighed by the advantages these growing Jewish boys and girls would gain in our midst. Their parents would not regard such a movement without approval.

I would not be in favor of subentioning the care and education of these children in the country they may happen to find themselves as exiles. I have witnessed at first hand, the consequences of American fundscarried abroad. They do not reach the “spot.”

whether or not such a plan is ever adopted, I would suggest your “sounding” the Jewish population on this subject through your influential bulletin.
