Senator Millared E. Tydings of Maryland will appear before the Foreign Relations Committee to request a public hearing on his resolution calling upon the Senate to protest the persecution to the Jews in Germany, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today. The Committee is scheduled to meet in excutive session some time this week.
Senator Key Pittman of Nevada indicated to certain Congressman that the Foreiogn Relations Committee, of which he is the chairman, is reluctant about holding a public hearing on the Tydings resolution. He said that if Senator Tydings himself makes the request when the committee meets in secret session during the week, the committee would give it serious consideration.
Senator Tydings said that he intended to appear before the committee to make his request during the last few days and that since the committee first met seeretly to take up the Ydings resolution, hundreds of telegrams have been received by Senator Pittman, the Maryland Senator and the committee members, requesting favorable action on the rosolution of protest to the Hitler regime.
