Oratory Finals Sunday Night at 92st. Ymha

The finals in the National Oratorical Contest for Jewish Centers, conducted under the auspices of the Jewish Welfare Board, parent organization of Y.M.H.A.’s, Y.W.H.A.’s and Jewish Community Centers, will be held Sunday evening at the Young Men’s Hebrew Association, 92nd Street and Lexington avenue.

Representatives of regional federation will participate, including the Associated Y.M. and Y.W.H.A. of New England, New York State Federation of Y.M.H.A.’s, the Metropolitan League of Jewish Community Associations, and the federations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Middle Atlantic states.

The winners of the preliminary tournaments, conducted by the regional federations, are Norman B. Robbins, of Worcester, Mass., who will speak on “Scapegoat of the World”; Isadore Zamost, of New Brunswick, N. J., whose topic is “Youth Looks at the Synagegue”; Henry S. Levine, of Syracuse, N. Y., whose address is “Albert Einstein, Prophet of World Peace”; Lester Benjamin, of Hazelton, Pa., who will speak on “The Jew of Tomorrow”; and Abraham Fleischman,of staten Island,N.Y.,whose subjuct is “The Role of the Jewish Youth in the New oreder.”

The winner will be awarded the Irving Lehman Trophy,donated by Moritz M. Gottieb,president of the Jewish Community Center of Allentown,Pa.The judges will be Dr. Jacob A.Greeberg of the Board of Education of New York, Charles A. Cowen,Zionist leader,and Louis Kraft,member of the executive staff of kathe Jewish Welrare Board.The chairman will be former congressman Isaac Siegel,president of the Institutional Synagogue in Harlem.
