The president of the Vienna Jewish community, Dr. Desider Friedmann and Vice-President Loewenherz, are understood to have gone abroad in order to negotiate with leaders of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee relative to extending the same amount of credit as heretofore to small traders and industrialists.

The assistance of the Joint Distribution Committee in the welfare work of the community is also being sought. It is understood that of late one Joint Distribution Committee has extended much less credit than formerly, and that the community leaders hope the negotiations will result in the necessary support.
