Thirty leading Jewish communal and religious organizations of Flatbush will participate in the local campaign to settle German Jewish refugees in Palestine. The drive will be launched March 17 with a dinner at the Capitol Club, 1260 Ocean avenue, according to an announcement yesterday by Samuel Schleimer, chairman of the Flatbush Division of the American Palestine Campaign.
The principal speaker at the dinner will be Charles Edward Russell, president of the American Pro-Palestine Federation, Other speakers will include Justice Mitchell May, Aaron William Levy, Mrs. Harry H. Tracey and Assemblyman Albert D. Schanzer.
“It is a source of great pride to Flatbush Jewry that its outstanding communal and religious bodies have recognized the responsibility of the tragedy in Germany and have responded so readily,” declared Mr. Schleimer in a statement. “It is gratifying, also, that these organizations have realized the significance of Palestine as a refuge for the oppressed Jews of Germany and have made common cause of the great task of transporting and settling them in the Jewish national homeland.”
