The report is current here that the boycott of the forthcoming municipal elections in Palestine is being strongly advocated by the mayors of its towns who are using their influence with newspapers to press for the abstention of the Arab electorate from the polls. The reason is said to be the desire of the mayors to force the government into extending their period of service for another five years and thus to nullify the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Ordinance recently enacted.
