–Representative Samuel Dickstein, chairman of the House Committee on Immigration and Naturalization and author of the resolution calling for a nationwide Congressional investigation of Nazi propaganda activities which was adopted by the House today, issued the following statement tonight through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency:

“I am happy to know that the Congress of the United States had faith in me and supported and sustained my charges of propaganda and subversive activities aimed at our government.

“I am very much elated over the overwhelming majority by which my resolution for an investigation of Nazi propaganda activities was adopted.

“This is a great American day for the American people. The mandate of the House of Representatives. and in turn of the people represented by its members, is clear cut.

“It is the purpose of the investigation to get to the bottom of all propaganda activities instigated by the enemies of our government. The investigation will not be confined to any one section of the country.

“This investigation of subversive propaganda activities is now assumed by the United States–the greatest democratic government in the world. We want to keep it the greatest democratic government of the world and not permit local agencies of foreign governments to undermine it.”
