In 247 cities throughout the United States campaigns have been organized to raise funds toward the $3000000 quota of the United Jewish Appeal, according to an announcement from the New York headquarters of the fundraising organization, which represents the Joint Distribution Committee and the American Palestine Campaign in a united effort for the relief and rehabilitation of Jews in Germany and other lands and for the settlement of refugees in Palestine.

The series of campaigns, said to be the most extensive that have been conducted by American Jews since the close of the World War, nave been organized in response to the appeals of the national leaders of the joint fund-raising agency who have stressed the urgency of making available as quickly as possible a maximum sum to meet the tragic plight of the Jews in Germany.

Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, in a statement on the necessity of nation-wide support for the United Jewish Appeal, declared that Jews are called upon to contribute funds for German Jewish relief not merely to cope with physical needs but to combat “those forces which are not dangerous only to the life of our people, but, what is more important, to their honor.”
