The German-American Chamber of Commerce does not contemplate joining the anti-boycott movement sponsored by the DAWA, the German-American Protective Alliance, according to General Herman A. Metz, the chamber’s president.
At his Fifth Avenue office General Metz yesterday spiked a report to the effect that his organization would in the near future join the anti-boycott group, as announced by Louis Zahne in his speech at the Nazi meeting held Tuesday night at Schwaben Hall, Brooklyn.
“We do not intend to join any political moves or movements. This is a strictly business institution,” General Metz declared yesterday.
In the meantime plans for an all-German department store, first announced about a week ago, are proceeding apace under DAWA auspices. The object of the proposed store will be to enable the sympathizers of the anti-boycott movement to purchase merchandise of German origin.
