A combined farewell reception and annual election was held yesterday afternoon by the Herzliah Hebrew Academy at the Hotel Knickerbocker.
The reception was held in honor of John L. Bernstein, attorney and communal leader, who is sailing tomorrow for Palestine with Mrs. Bernstein. Mr. Bernstein’s activities in the field of Jewish education. immigration and Zionism were lauded by Abraham Goldberg, Israel Chipkin, Abraham Herman, Frank Rich and Moses Feinstein. Sol Cohen was toastmaster.
The annual election of the Academy resulted in the elevation to office of Rev. Z. H. Masliansky and Solomon Lamport, Honorary presidents; Israel Silberman, president, and John Widder, Jacob H. Cohen, John L. Bernstein, Frank Rich. Alexander Salzman, Professor Chaim Tchernowitz and Moses Feinstein.
