All rents of houses belonging to the Jewish community (Kehilla) are to be seized by the Bank of Greece in accordance with an order by the municipality of this city.

The order was issued because the kehilla has not paid back to the city an advance of 500,000 drachma for the construction of drains. Failure to return the money is attributed to the fact that the kehilla is suffering a severe economic crisis.

Several statutes of the kehilla will be modified after being approved by Social Minister Macropoulos, to whom some of the changes were suggested without first having been brought before the assembly of the kehilla. Such a practice is contrary to previous custom.

The proposed changes include the lowering of the requisite voting age for members of the assembly to twenty-one years.
